Can Vape Pods Go Bad? Tips For Keeping Your E-Juice Fresh

How Does A Vape Pod Work?

As the name implies, a vape pod works through a pod system. A pod is utilized instead of a vape tank or atomizer in this design. What the pod cartridge does is carry the e-liquid and vape juice, until it is converted into vapour, which is then delivered to the mouthpiece of your device.

Everything is contained in the pod, such as the e-liquid and the heating element. The only exception is the battery or the power source.

To be able to puff a vape pod, what you mainly have to do is attach it to a vape battery.

While larger vape tanks can hold as much as 6.5 ml or more of vape juice, the typical pod can contain 1 ml to 3 ml of it.

So if you’re asking if a vape pod can go bad, the answer is yes, because e-liquids or vape juice can expire as well.

Can Vape Juice Expire?

Can Vape Pods Go Bad? The e-liquid in your vape pod can go bad, and this is one of the primary things that you have to know, especially if you’re new to vaping.

Now that you know that vape juice can expire, you might be wondering how long it will last until it does.

E-liquid, as a consumable product, can go bad. When you purchase it, you will see its corresponding expiry date somewhere in its container. For the most part, it is 1 to 2 years into the future.

What Are The Main Ingredients In E-Juice?

That’s a pretty long time, you might say, and there’s a sensible explanation to that. You see, there are two main ingredients found in vape juice, and they are:

  • Propylene glycol (PG), and
  • Vegetable glycerin (VG)

Commonly, these substances are incorporated in the food production process- to preserve foods, that’s why they last for an extended period of time.

VG is a kind of sugar that has been extracted from plants, whereas PG is classified as a type of alcohol. Sugar and alcohol are preservatives, and they have long expiry dates.

VG and PG as preservatives are however combined with synthetic and artificial flavours. They are added with nicotine as well to make your vaping experience delicious and satisfying. These elements in the e-liquid or vape juice eventually go bad and expire, although for quite a long time.

Is It Bad If You Take Expired Vape Juice?

Although there is no evidence that vaping expired e-liquid is actually harmful, doing so will make your e-puffing tasteless, distasteful, and unsatisfying. Note that when vape juice expires, the first thing that diminishes from it is the flavour.

Likewise, the nicotine element in the e-juice disappears, thus, no longer giving you the pleasure of strong nicotine hits.

It may not harm you to vape expired e-liquid, but it will not do you any good either in terms of flavourful and satisfying vapes.

How To Store Your E-Liquid Properly

You wouldn’t want your vape juice to expire sooner, and one of the best ways to prevent this is to store it properly. You might be thinking about storing these liquids in the fridge, but then again, that won’t be necessary.

It is a better idea to store your vape juice in a dark and dry place where there’s ideal temperature, such as the cupboard.

Chemical components in the e-liquid could disintegrate when exposed to sunlight, or even just a little heat, so steer clear of placing it under direct sunlight, or a warm environment, like your car dashboard.

A drawer or a cardboard box will do if it’s not possible to store your vape juice in a kitchen cupboard or somewhere snug. Keep the e-juice clean and uncontaminated by keeping the space neat and dry.

Carefully close the lid of the bottle after using, ensuring that it is tight so that no particles such as dust and air, among others can enter and contaminate the juice.

These tips are helpful only for keeping your vape juice fresh and preventing it from going bad before it is time. They will not avert its expiration if you keep it for several years.

Buy Only As Much E-Juice That You Need

Keeping your e-juice from expiring needs you to consume it within a few weeks or months subsequent to purchasing it. In this case, the best approach is to buy only as much vape juice as you need.

This may seem difficult if you’re a new vaper and are worried about running out of e-juice, but it is a method that makes sense to allow yourself to puff fresh vape juice every time. WIth more and more enthusiasts each day, the vaping industry is here to stay, and can only get better. There’s basically more e-juice products to come!
